Grocery

I took this picture while roaming within the Sarawak capital town. Kuching. This grocery is located at the end of Kuching, near to the Sarawak River. I found the market very interesting because it is used by various ethnic in Sarawak to sell their products. This picture showing a grocery owns by an ethnic Indian.

Off to Borneo 2

Off to Borneo

Flying, especially when you are in a business visit and alone is nowhere near to fun or exciting. I can’t be bothered by the thrill of take off and the beauty of the flight attendance. It just a cramp space and sour back. Luckily, the flight to Sarawak only took less than 2 hours and I managed to get hold to a sit near to the windows. I sat just about 2 or 3 seats behind the airplane wing. Guess what...That spot is a photography heaven (for the first 1 hours in a cramped Boeing 373) if you know how to tackle the scenery. This picture was taken right just after the plane enter the Borneo…about 30 minutes from Kuching International Airport. The snake like landscape is the Sarawak River. Luckily I had my LX3 with me and it let me fiddle with the space in between the cramp airplane seat and small yet blurry window.

Kuching the City of Cat

Kuching, the city of cat. I love Kuching for its beauty. One of the cleanest city in Malaysia. What I hate about it city is that I've almost been conned 2 times there by a group of con artist. I mean....really2 stupid con artist.

Fish Market

Pasir puteh wet market in the fish section. I went to the market with my father to search for raw food for Hari Raya preparation. The market was filled with peoples aiming for ketupas palas, meat and fish (laksa Kelantan made out of blended fish…the color is white…quite different fropm laksa Penang).

Boatman in Borneo

This picture was taken in Borneo...In Malaysian side. I was asked to go there for industrial visit. The job was not that long...most of the time I was sightseeing. I stayed in a city called Kuching. The thing that made me love Kuching is that the city is super clean. In addition to that, I like Sarawak River very much. The river is used extensively especially for transportation. It brings back memories when I'm in Brisbane….riding City Cat (The ferry service in Brisbane).

Scene from taman negara

This is a scene of one of my boat ride during our last trip in Taman Negara. I manage to get front sit which was the best seat that you can get for photos and site seeing. Plus, people in the astern have higher chances to get wet as compared if you are sitting in the front. Notice the transparent plastic bag that we used to pack our samples for further analysis. This will include plant species identification and some samples for tissue culture.

Sepah bulan

Millipedes or in Malay language, Sepah Bulan (Gonggok) are crawling, herbivorous arthropods that belongs to the Subclass Diplopoda. It has a segmented body, each segment usually bearing two pairs of legs, and the distinct head bears a pair of short clubbed antennae. Most millipedes are no more than 2.5 cm or 1 inch long; a few in the tropics are 30 cm/12 in. Millipedes live in damp, dark places, feeding mainly on rotting vegetation. Some species injure crops by feeding on tender roots, and some produce a poisonous secretion in defence. Certain orders have silk glands. Millipedes are found world wide.

Selected From Taman Negara

Things I like about Taman Negara (Malaysian NAtional Park)

  1. It's green...lots of subject to be photographed.
  2. Easy excess. You can go there by bus or car.
  3. Cheap transportation. Once u r there, the transportation to basic places is cheap. RM 5 for a bot ride to canopy walk.
  4. Fair price for rooms/chalet. It would be around RM 150 ++ for a nice n decent air conditioned room. You can get cheaper room if you want for about RM 60 per night. Seriously...the first one is worth while if you want a great and confortable holiday.
  5. Great river. Basically you can choose which river to bath in. hehe
  6. The food is basic, but its not expensive...what do you expect? a candle light dinner with a fat mutton curry in the middle of the jungle? actually u can get it ^_^
  7. The people are friendly.
  8. If you plan carefully, there are lots of activities that you can do. Example: Canopy walk for RM 5. etc etc
  9. Love the boat ride especially in the afternoon.
  10. The air is really really....I mean....seriously fresh...

Taman Negara-Teaser-

I'd been working in Taman NEgara (National Park) last weekend for UiTM biodiversity group. We stayed at Nusa Holiday village. It’s funny how we can still stay in an air-conditioned room in the middle of a Malaysian thick rain forest. For the trip, I used heavily my macro lens and a bit of wide angle for scenery. We had to make a new route in order to find new species within the Kuala Keniam forest station. Nice trip with nice photos. Next time when I’m in a tracking/jungle trip, my concern would be the weight of my gear….it must be light enough for me to walk for 8 to 10 hours without straining my shoulder and neck.
